• Created a worship and teaching environment that attracts the diversity we all hope for—across the cultural, ethnic, age, socio-economic, and political spectrum; with more than 35% of worship comprised of young Latino families
• FPC Salinas meets all the criteria for being a validated ministry and Mike has been our Pastor for 27 years Finally, we believe it is in the best interests of PC(USA) and Presbytery to validate Mike’s ministry to FPC Salinas.
Both PC(USA) and Presbytery have a financial interest ($800K) and a ministry interest (proclaiming Christ to a truly diverse community) that we continue as a vibrant and robust ministry. In addition, Mike brings true diversity in thought, theology and ministry creativity to PC(USA) that is unique. There has been a question of Mike’s commitment to engage on committees in the past or going forward despite him volunteering for the Church Health and Growth Task Force. To alleviate all concerns, we suggest that you make his participation on this committee as a condition for his continuing in PC(USA) in good standing and ministering at FPC Salinas.
Both sides have done a good job of keeping this process as gracious and positive as possible, showing grace whenever appropriate. We are asking for Presbytery to have grace and mercy in this unique situation and validate Mike Ladra’s ministry to FPC Salinas.
Respectfully Submitted, Jim Bass, Former Moderator of Presbytery, PET, Session Steve Taylor, PET, Session
